Soroca is situated in 160km of Chisinau on the right Dniester’s bank and is an administrative center of Soroca’s district. Soroca is one of the oldest Moldavian cities. It was founded on the place of Olhonia – Greek colony. The city is famous for the medieval fortress, but Soroca is also famous for the most numerous Gypsy community in Moldova. It influenced the architecture of the city. The Gypsy houses impress by their variety, diversity of colors, contrasts and luxury. About 20 hundreds of Gypsy live in Soroca and very often the Gypsy palaces pass ahead of local middle class inhabitant’s houses according to the level of accomplishment.
